SDG 8 aims to promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all by 2030. It means ending child labour, ensuring safe workplaces and fair wages, supporting entrepreneurship and innovation, and building skills for young people. A growing economy means nothing if the poorest workers are left behind — decent work is a human right.

SDG means Sustainable Development Goals — 17 global goals set by the United Nations to build a better world by 2030. SDG 8 is central to all other goals — because when people have decent jobs and fair income, they can afford education for their children, healthcare for their families, and food on the table. Economic dignity lifts entire communities. 🌏

It means workers get rest days, equal pay for equal work, and protection from unfair dismissal. A job that harms, exploits, or underpays is not decent work — it is a violation of human rights. 💼

Rahul's school was near a busy tea stall where a boy named Chotu — about 8 years old — worked every morning washing cups. Rahul saw Chotu every day but never thought about it. One day in class, his teacher taught SDG 8 and said: "Every child working instead of studying is a violation of their future."
That afternoon Rahul spoke to his mother, who spoke to the stall owner. The owner didn't know about the National Child Labour Project. Together they helped Chotu enroll in a special bridge school nearby. Within a month, Chotu was learning to read. "Didi, my name means 'small'," he told Rahul's mother. "But now I feel big." 📚
Rahul's class adopted Chotu's school as a philanthropy project. They collected stationery, visited once a month, and made sure Chotu stayed enrolled. By the end of the year, Chotu joined a regular government school. 🎒
